The 2009 Case for Inclusion shows mixed results in the state of Medicaid Services to People with Disabilities. The report finds that all states have room to improve outcomes and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While too much money is still spent isolating people in large institutions and waiting lists for services are increasing overall; real and notable progress has been made in just one year. Still, too often the goals of independence, productivity and community inclusion are at odds with reality.
The full United Cerebral Palsy report and state-by-state data are available online at www.ucp.org/medicaid. This is the fourth year UCP has ranked all 50 States and the District of Columbia on their Medicaid-funded services to Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
