Safety

The current climate in the US has forced us all to prepare for the possibility of harsh conditions. Although people with disabilities often have a lot to do to prepare themselves, it is good to know that help is available. People with different types of disabilities need to pay attention to different things when making their preparations. Several agencies including FEMA and the Red Cross have put togeter information for you no matter what your disability, including people who:

  • use manual wheelchairs or scooters,
  • use motorized wheelchairs or scooters,
  • are blind or have a visual disability,
  • are deaf or have significant hearing loss,
  • have speech-related or communication disabilities, or
  • regularly administer their own medications or have a cognitive disability.
