SSA Regional Conferences: Reach Out - Building Successful Coalitions to Enroll Dual Eligibles
In the next couple of months, the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Human Resources and Services Administration will host a series of five regional conferences entitled Reach Out - Building Successful Coalitions to Enroll Dual Eligibles. This two-day event is designed to enhance collaboration among Federal, State, Tribal, faith-based, local, provider, and beneficiary representatives who are working to enroll dual eligibles - the low-income Medicare beneficiaries who qualify for assistance under the Medicaid program.
These conferences promote our ongoing effort to increase dual-eligible enrollment. A significant number of low-income citizens who are disabled or elderly still do not participate in programs that are designed to help them cover Medicare premium and cost-sharing requirements. Without this support, healthcare costs can be prohibitive. This impedes access to care for many Medicare beneficiaries.
Conferences will be held in the following locations:
San Diego, CA - May 8-9, 2002
For individuals from: AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, NV, OR, WA
Albuquerque, NM - May 22-23, 2002
For individuals from: AR, CO, LA, NM, OK, TX, UT, WY
Minneapolis, MN - June 5-6, 2002
For individuals from: IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MO, MN, MT, ND, NE, OH, SD, WI
Philadelphia, PA - June 12-13, 2002
For individuals from: CT, DC, DE, MD, ME, MA, NJ, NH, NY, PA, RI, VA, VT, WV
Nashville, TN - June 19-20, 2002
For individuals from: AL, NC, SC, FL, GA, KY, MS, TN
We encourage you to share this information with your local affiliates and local chapters throughout the country and hope that they can join us for what promises to be an extremely educational, inspirational, and important coalition-building program. Together, we can improve access to care for our Nation's low-income Medicare beneficiaries.
