National Council on Disability Releases TANF Position Paper
Congress is expected to reauthorize the Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) program in the coming months, and the National Council on Disability has released a position paper calling on Congress to strengthen the ability of states to help families with disabilities on welfare transition from welfare to work. The paper summarizes research about people with disabilities and the TANF program, and some of the proposals being offered for consideration to improve how TANF-funded programs address the needs of families that have a member with a disability.
