Federal Hiring Event for People with Disabilities
April 26, 2010 - Washington, D.C.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 24, 2010

As part of an initiative to increase the employment of people with disabilities in the Federal Workforce, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) are sponsoring a day-long, invitation only, Federal Hiring Event for People with Disabilities April 26 in Washington, D.C. Representatives from many agencies (including FEMA and DHS) will review resumes prior to the event, and invite prospective candidates for interviews. Job opportunities will be nationwide, with many primarily in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

To participate, candidates should review the Federal Hiring Event information and the Individuals with Disabilities page, or Veterans page on USAJOBS.gov. Candidates must submit a resume to the following email address: Hiringevent@opm.gov no later than March 24, 2010. Documentation supporting each applicant's disability (e.g., proof of disability and job readiness certification letters) and/or veteran’s status (e.g., VA letter and DD-214) can be provided with an applicant's resume, or at the time the candidate is interviewed. [Note: To ensure the hiring process moves quickly and to expedite the agency's ability to make tentative offers, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit your supporting documentation along with their resume.]

Disabled veterans with less than a 30% rating or with non-service connected disabilities are encouraged to submit their resumes, along with proof of disability and job readiness.

Once received, agencies will review applications and send applicants an invitation to the Hiring Event if eligible for participation.
