What is Recycle for UCP?
United Cerebral Palsy has partnered with BCS Recycling Specialists to implement the "Recycle for UCP" fundraising program. This free program enables UCP and its affiliates to earn money for collecting Electronic Waste (E-Waste) in UCP logo'd collection boxes. E-Waste items including inkjet cartridges, cell phones, PDAs, iPods, digital cameras and laptops are to be collected and BCS pays up to $2.50/item and $10 for laptops, no broken screens, please.
How does it work?
BCS sends UCP logo'd collection boxes for you to place in office buildings, medical facilities, retail outlets, and any other high traffic locations. Once the box is full, close it with the self-sealing lid and note the prepaid FedEx shipping label attached to the box. Each box also has a white sticker that signifies the return location so that a new recycling box can be sent. The FedEx charges, both outgoing and incoming, are paid for by BCS.
Once BCS receives the full box, we inventory it by the reference number on the box (we code the affiliate's reference # on each box before it is sent out). Items are sorted and then BCS sends a check directly to your affiliate for 75% of the value earned and a check to UCP national for 25%.
How do I start the Recycle for UCP fundraiser?
If you are an affiliate or organization looking to raise money for UCP simply go to www.scrapdr.com and fill out the E-Waste Recycling Fundraiser form to get boxes. You will be asked to specify which affiliate will receive the earnings and where to ship the boxes. If you have laptops to recycle simply email us jeanette@scrapdr.com for a pre-paid FedEx shipping label.
