State of Disability in America

United Cerebral Palsy publicly released a primer last week during its annual Life Without Limits Gala on the current state of affairs for individuals with disabilities. Entitled The State of Disability in America, the publication is an evaluation of the disability experience in America by the Life Without Limits Project, formerly known as the Big Sky Project. The 65-page document, an examination and consolidation of current and existing research on the overall state of affairs for individuals with disabilities in America, includes chapters on disability rights in America, healthcare, education, employment, housing, and organizing for change. It also includes personal stories and quotes from disability rights advocates and trail blazers.

The document was written by James P. Baker, former UCP press secretary; David B. Mixner, best-selling writer and civil rights advocate; and Seth D. Harris, Professor and Director of Labor and Employment Law Programs at New York Law School.
