Day of Caring
A “Day of Caring” was held at the UCP Day Program in Quaker Hill, CT on May 26, 2009. Congressman Joe Courtney and his staff were the volunteers who came to assist UCP staff members with projects that were long overdue and in much need of attention.
The “Day of Caring” initiative, administered by United Way, is designed to use collaboration with the Eastern Connecticut business community in order to facilitate a way in which private industry can become active in volunteering for local non-profit human service agencies.
Projects completed involved the hanging of a mural in the community room used by the Day Program participants, refinishing dining tables and some light landscaping. Everyone had a good time working together and getting to know one another.
The UCP staff would like to thank all volunteers and contributors, and we give thanks to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut for including UCP in their “Day of Caring” Plans.
