Team Reardon A Big Hit at ING Miami Marathon
When UCP dad Michael Reardon decided to train for a marathon, he had three goals in mind: to bring his son Matthew along for a rewarding personal experience, to raise awareness about the needs and potential of special children, and to raise funds for United Cerebral Palsy.
With extraordinary determination, and the support of his wife Paula, daughter Isabella, family, friends and colleagues, Michael achieved each of his goals, and much more. Along the way, Michael and Matthew became an inspiration to more people than they could ever imagine.
Not only did Michael complete his very first marathon while pushing Matthew in a pod racer the entire way, he finished 858th in a field of more than 4,000 runners! Competitors and spectators alike were amazed and inspired to see this determined father-son team competing along with experienced, world-class marathon runners.
Team Reardon completed the event in grand style, raising more than $7,000 for United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida, making a tremendous impact on public awareness, and inspiring everyone around them to reach for the best in themselves.
UCP of South Florida extends its heartfelt thanks to this very special family, and to all those who supported Team Reardon in this remarkable effort!
