Supporters Boogie at the Fifth Annual Bash

A whole lot of shakin’ was goin’ on at United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan’s Fifth Annual Baby Boomer Bash, February 14, 2009.

More than 200 baby boomers hit the dance floor to support people with disabilities and boogie to the beat of the Sea Cruiser Band.

“We are honored to have such great support from the community,” says Linda Potter, UCP Michigan executive director. “The involvement helps UCP Michigan promote access to home-based care and assistive technology, which help people with disabilities live more independently.”

All proceeds from ticket sales, donations, raffle and door prize sales support UCP’s advocacy efforts to increase resources for people with disabilities. The event raised roughly $8,200.

Sponsors of the Bash were Accident Fund, Miller Canfield and Capitol Research Services. Media sponsors were 94.1 WVIC Radio, WSYM Fox47 and the Lansing State Journal.

The top raffle prizes were a two-night stay at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, a one-night stay at Boyne Highlands Resort – including a ski or golf package – and a three-month pass to the Michigan Athletic Club. Door prizes included dinner at the Red Cedar Grill, tickets to the Wharton Center, an overnight weekend stay at the East Lansing Marriott, along with many other prizes donated by supporting businesses.
