Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Child Development and Rehab Center

  • 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Rd.
    Portland, OR 97239
Doernbecher Children's Hospital is a regional medical facility serving families from urban and rural areas throughout Oregon since it opened on Portland's Marquam Hill in 1926. We are proud of our tradition of medical innovation, which began with pioneering techniques in microsurgery that developed into the nation's first academic children's eye clinic in 1949. During polio outbreaks in the 1950s, stricken children recovered in the hospital's polio unit. In 1968, Oregon's first neonatal intensive care center opened at Doernbecher. Today, we continue our tradition of improving patient care through clinical research, particularly in the treatment of children suffering from cancer. Doernbecher and the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) are regional research, training, and patient care centers dedicated to the most seriously ill and injured children in the region. Doernbecher offers pediatric primary care in eight community clinics in the Portland metro area.
