Community Recreation
Respite Care
Respite Care provides a break from the commitment of caring for an adult with a disability. Respite visits are usually two to fours in length and can be once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month for as long as needed. Not only does Respite Care give a break to the caregiver, it allows the disabled adult personal time to work on personal goals and projects. Respite visits can also be for going to appointments or going out and having fun. One of the main goals of the respite program is to get the disabled adult into the community.
UCP of Delaware uses vans equipped with wheelchair lifts to help program participants access the community.
UCP’s Community Respite Care programs receive funding from the DHSS Division of Services for Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities.
