Employment Program Service (Springfield)

Supported Employment

The Supported Employment Program provides adults with the opportunity to become productive members of the community through job placement and support services. UCP Land of Lincoln is changing the way society thinks about employment of persons with severe disabilities.

  • Individuals are interviewed about their job interests and assessed to determine vocational strengths.
  • Vocational Managers work closely with individuals on job development and job placement skills until a job match occurs.
  • Job coaches help new employees to learn the job and transition in the work environment.

Vocational Training Program

The Vocational Training Program uses a self paced, "train and then place" employment model. Individuals learn a variety of clerical and business skills that allow them to secure employment in the clerical field.

  • Individuals receive instruction and complete exercises at a note that is individualized.
  • Staff will negotiate job leads, set up interviews and provide support needed to obtain successful employment.
  • Instructors will be available to evaluate the need for job site accommodations and continue with follow-up visits to endure job retention.

Transition Services

UCP knows that children are the future. UCP's Advancing Opportunities Program works collaboratively with School District 186. To provide students the necessary skills to successfully transition into life after high school graduation.

  • Transition Facilitators work directly with high school students preparing them for work on post secondary education.
  • Students spend part of the school day learning job skills at different businesses including clerical, retail, and hotel industries.
  • UCP has successfully maintained a Secondary Transition Experience Program for more than 10 years where students have the opportunity to improve work and leadership skills and become exposed to different jobs.
