Family Support / Respite
After-School Respite
The After-School Respite program provides respite care for participants between the ages of 3 and 21 in a group setting from 2:00PM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday during the school year. The time spent in After-School Respite does not affect the amount of in-home respite a family receives.
The program is funded for two trained staff to provide personal care and supervision. If more than eight children are present at any time, creating a staff to student ratio greater than 1 to 4, the Respite Case Manager will find an additional staff member to assist until the number of children is under eight.
The After-School Respite program is not funded to have a program nurse available. Therefore, a child whose condition requires a nurse to be present in the school environment would not be able to use the After-School Respite program unless provisions are made by the family to have a nurse present during the program hours.
