Living in the Community
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live in the community. It does not matter if you have a disability or how severe that disability may be; community living arrangements are preferred to institutions and nursing facilities.

In homes like those provided at United Cerebral Palsy the focus is on the individual. Our staff work for and are responsible to you. You are in control of yourself and all services are tailored to meet your needs.

When you move into your new home, you will become responsible for as many household duties as possible. Setting goals and objectives will be your duty as it will be the duty of the UCP staff to assist in attaining them.

Becoming a part of the community is a priority. You go to the grocery store, you interact with the neighbors, you explore the neighborhood. Activities are scheduled that do not always involve large groups of other persons with disabilities. And it is up to you to decide in which activities you will take part.

Community Integrated Living Arrangements
CILA homes give people with severe disabilities the chance to live in the community.

UCP operates six houses under CILA guidelines. Each house is home to four-six individuals. Four of the houses were built new and completely adapted for people with disabilities.

For more information about Residential Services, please contact UCP at (815) 744-3500 or send an e-mail.
