Social Work Services

UCP of Northeastern Maine provides social work services for individuals with developmental disabilities or developmental delays and their family members. Social workers meet with families in their homes to provide support and information regarding community resources. Social workers help families find ways to meet the need of all family members.

Social workers sponsor a parent support group. The Greater Bangor Parent Awareness group provides an opportunity for parents to share ideas and information in a safe and relaxed environment.

Social Workers assist people with disabilities and their families by:

  • Helping families understand their child's developmental needs.
  • Helping interpret the child's assessments and other medical information.
  • Helping families access community resources for all family members.
  • Supporting families through life transitions.
  • Assisting families in becoming their child's advocate.
  • Assisting adults locate services.
  • Assisting adults with disabilities in their every day relationships.
