Taste of Madison Bartenders
Taste of Madison Bartender Information
United Cerebral Palsy provides nearly 700 volunteers to staff beer, soda and wine concession stands at the annual Taste of Madison festival, held this year on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6, 2009.
Bartenders are needed to staff both beer and wine stands.
If you are interested in becoming a bartender, here is the procedure for securing your license from the City of Madison:
- As soon as possible, register for and complete a Beverage Server Training Course. Training is now available online, making it very convenient for your schedule. You do not need to sign up for a traditional class at MATC if you choose an online course.
- Madison Area Technical College (608-258-2300) Downtown campus, 211 N. Carroll Street: traditional classroom course, $20, 4 hours of class. You must register in person at MATC and sign up for a scheduled class. Classes fill up quickly.
- Any other Wisconsin Technical College. Northeast Technical College offers an online Beverage Server Training course at www.online.nwtc.edu. The fee for this course is $30, 4 hours of class.
- www.learn2serve.com: online course, $25, 4 hours of class.
- www.icanbartend.com: online course, $25, 4 hours of class.
- www.servercertificationcorp.com: online course, $24, 4 hours of class.
- www.nraef.org/servsafe/alcohol: online course, $30, 4-5 hours of class.
- http://servingalcohol.com: online course, $16, 2-4 hours of class.
- Upon completion of the course, download the City of Madison Operator License Application and Instructions in PDF format (scroll down to page 2 for Operator License information). Fill out the application and submit it, in person, to the Madison City Clerk, City-County Building Room 103. Please try to apply before June 30 to avoid an extra fee. After June 30, you will need to apply for a provisional license at the Clerk's office so that your license will be valid in time for the Taste of Madison. UCP will reimburse you for the additional $15 cost. Please note that the application form must be notarized. If you are looking for a notary, UCP has one on staff.
- Pay the $35.00 license fee (plus an additional $15 for a provisional license, if necessary) to the City Clerk's office.
- UCP will reimburse the license fee and the cost of the class, up to $30, with proof of age and receipts. Submit receipts and expenses to:
