BulletPhilanthropy

Philanthropy is truly an American tradition.... but so is effective estate planning. Every year, millions of Americans help strengthen our non- profit organizations through their gifts while at the same time meeting their own estate planning objectives.

Charitable contributions are often most effective when they are specifically dedicated to the future needs of non-profit organizations. Many donors have found that deferred gifts to a deserving charity will provide valuable current tax benefits while at the same time maximizing the estate assets passed on to their heirs, As you review your estate planning, we hope you will consider making a bequest to UCP through your Will, by creating a Charitable Gift Annuity or by establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust.

United Cerebral Palsy’s Program for Charitable Giving is designed to assist you in your philanthropic decision-making by offering you these three simple options. Because UCP is a public charity, your contribution is of course tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

BulletUnited Cerebral Palsy

United Cerebral Palsy’s Program for Charitable Giving provides three basic methods for charitable giving, which are explained in greater detail in the sections that follow detailing each option. It is our hope that after reviewing these options, you will consider making a charitable gift that will ensure the full inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life for decades to come.

There are many legal and financial aspects to consider in prudent planning for charitable giving. UCP can be a reliable source of information and assistance in exploring individual family situations and advising families as to what can be accomplished (for families, loved ones, and UCP) through endowment gifts. These discussions are strictly confidential, free of charge, and put families under no obligation. Then, depending on your options or plans, you may wish to discuss this further with your attorney, trust officer of a bank, life insurance agent, and/or accountant.

Local community services provided by United Cerebral Palsy depend on your continued support. Your gift will demonstrate your concern and insure the future of these vital services.

When considering a gift, please be sure to our legal name.

Bullet Bequests

UCP can be named as a beneficiary in your will. An outright gift can consist of cash, securities or other property with no strings attached, You may also designate a gift to UCP for a percentage of your estate, for all or a percentage of your residuary estate or as the beneficiary of a trust set up through your will. BulletCharitable Gift Annuities

Charitable gift annuities provide a tax-favored way of giving that offers the donor (i) a current charitable deduction for income tax purposes and (ii) fixed income in the form of a guaranteed annual return that remains constant for life. The level of fixed annual income depends on your age when the gift is made. You may choose to receive monthly, quarterly or semi-annual payments, a portion of which will be non-taxable to you. BulletCharitable Remainder Trusts

With this method of giving you can increase your income, avoid capital gains tax, obtain a current charitable deduction and make a meaningful gift to a wonderful charity. You can transfer low dividend assets to UCP and receive a higher dividend return for life. This income is paid to you or your beneficiary, with the remainder being passed to UCP following the death of you or your beneficiary.
