Fall Preschool Readiness Registration Under Way

  The fall session of UCP’s Preschool Readiness Playgroup begins August 4 for ages 2 ½ to 4.

  The Preschool Readiness Playgroup meets each Wednesday morning (excluding announced holidays and planned outings) 9-11 a.m. and tuition is $60 per month (required in advance). This playgroup is open to UCP clients as well as children in the community by application (required only for new enrollees) and a $25 application fee will be applied to tuition.

  Targeted skills include:

  • Increased communication
  • Daily living skills
  • Following directions
  • Strength and coordination
  • Social skills
  • Preschool readiness skills, including counting, coloring, cutting, letters and more

  The Preschool Readiness Playgroup is staffed by teachers, developmental specialists, and caring volunteers with consultation from UCP speech /language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists.

  UCP of Huntsville and Tennessee Valley, Inc. invites young adults (ages 18 and older) to join Marilyn Lands, Licensed Professional Counselor, on the first Wednesday of each month, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., for the Young Adults Connections Group.

  Topics for discussion include:

  • Stress Management
  • Job Readiness Skills
  • Job Placement Resources
  • Communication Skills
  • Managing Emotions
  • Dealing with Grief
  • Self-Esteem
  • *Ideas from the Group are Welcome

  A light lunch will be served and a drawing for prizes, including a Target gift certificate, will be held.

  Join us for camaraderie, sharing, guest speakers and stories.

  The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the UCP Therapy Center Conference Room, located at 2075 Max Luther Drive, Huntsville, 35810.
