About UCP
United Cerebral Palsy of Kansas (UCP-K) is a statewide organization founded in 1953 by a group of parents seeking to provide educational & therapeutic services for disabled children. As school districts have assumed more and more responsibility for these kinds of services, UCP-K has shifted its focus from children’s services to the development of programs and services that provide independent living opportunities, employment opportunities and the kind of assistive technologies that assure healthy lifestyles, access to the community and personal growth.
UCP of Kansas serves people with a variety of disabilities — not just cerebral palsy. In many instances, UCP staff can assist families in identifying appropriate services even if they are not directly provided by UCP of Kansas.
Funding for UCP of Kansas comes from various grants, the State of Kansas, contributions and participation in nearly 40 United Ways and Community Funds across Kansas.
An affiliate of the national UCP organization, UCP of Kansas provides services to clients through its own programs and through collaboration with other service providers. A major partner is the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation of Kansas.
