About UCP
United Cerebral Palsy of Greater New Orleans was founded in 1946 by a group of parents who had children with cerebral palsy and it was incorporated in 1950. An award-winning United Way Agency, UCP is an affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy.
UCP is staffed by a team of experienced, competent and caring professionals, and is governed by a diverse and talented team of volunteers. Both staff and volunteers include parents, family members and people with disabilities who are united in community and purpose.
A medical advisory board comprised of doctors who are leading specialists in the fields of orthopedics, pediatrics, neurosurgery, and dentistry contributes to the quality of services the agency provides.
The agency is a multifaceted community based resource serving children and adults in the Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St Bernard, St Tammany and Tangipohoa parishes. UCP is in the process of expanding services in other geographic areas of the state.
UCP is a nonprofit United Way Agency which invests approximately 85% of all revenue to the provision of service. It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Services as a 501 (c)3 tax exempt organization.
