Family/Respite Care
UCP of Central Maryland’s respite care program provides funding for short-term care of individuals with developmental disabilities, in or out of the home, allowing the family a time of rest and renewal. UCP-CM’s respite care program employs a family located worker system, whereby the family locates the respite care worker and UCP-CM provides the funding to pay the worker to care for the individual with a disability.
UCP-CM provides financial assistance to families who meet eligibility requirements as established by Maryland’s Department of Human Resources (DHR). Eligible individuals may request up to 164 hours of respite care per fiscal year. Respite care may be provided for a planned time period, emergency, or as needed. Funding is based on a sliding fee scale.
UCP-CM's respite care program is available to individuals in four counties in Western Maryland; Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington. Services are coordinated out of UCP-CM's Western regional office:
