Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology can make a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities by enhancing their ability to be independent, obtain and maintain employment, and integrate within their communities. Technology can be provided to address needs in the areas of mobility, communication, learning, transportation, independent living and more.
There are many resources available to fund technology for persons with disabilities such as: Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Medicaid Waivers, and various other federal and state programs.
Additional information on examples and suggestions on how to advocate for technology can be found in the Family Guide to Assistive Technology. For technical assistance regarding funding sources, please contact UCP/Detroit.
