Advancing the Civil Rights Movement for People with Disabilities

Advocating for Change at the Local, State & Federal Level

The national office presence in Washington, DC enhances the strength of the UCP network as the voice of our affiliates on the important public policy issues impacting those whom we serve across America. UCP is a central hub in the civil rights movement for people with disabilities. Each year we pursue advocacy initiatives and participate in state and federal litigation of importance to people with disabilities.

Using research, strategic alliances and grassroots efforts driven by technology, UCP builds campaigns around important disability issues including the future of Medicaid, disability voting issues, family supports and the direct support professional (DSP) crisis. UCP provides important and valuable information to its affiliates about accessing state and federal resources critical to people with disabilities and their families.
